Finally, a Useful Jersey Wall?

Something coming out of Jersey other than Bad Smells and Worse drivers? Maybe so.

Check out this blog post, demonstrating a new proposal in the rumor mill of mildly-environmentally friendly actions. It seems that some folks in Jersey are proposing the idea of putting wind turbines inside of new “Jersey Walls” (those obnoxious concrete barriers most commonly seen in long-term road work and New Jersey highways) that would use wind generated by the passing cars to generate a renewable source of power.

Neat idea, still relies on the fuel of the cars for now – meaning that in the short term, not so environmentally friendly. Once we’re able to get more and more vehicles running on alternative fuels though, this has the potential to be a great addition to the renewable energy pool of technology.
